Éirinn go Brách

It’s everybody’s favorite green beer holiday. Now some folks
have been celebrating since Friday, but I can happily say I wasn’t one of
them.  With the Open WOD Saturday, I was
really well behaved. For the first time ever, this kids’ hamstrings are sucking
at life. I’m told that means I was working properly during my Deadlifts. My
back feels fantastic, but getting up, sitting down and walking all involved
gritted teeth and determination. This is what CrossFit does to you, pushes you
to the edge of function and shows you what you are capable of.  The pain, is just proof that you worked hard.
Warm-up
500m Row
10 Squats
10 Jumping Jacks
Without further ado, we got it going on tonight. First up,
10 minutes to find a 1RM Shoulder Press. Now, with a little apprehension I went
into this.  If you flashback to last
summer, it was a 1RM Shoulder Press that spelled the end of lifting for a long
period of time. Today, I was playing it smart and working with Mr. Riley. We
worked our way up and hit 145lbs. We then went through a 5 minute session,
lifting every 40 seconds for 1 Shoulder Press, 1 Push Press and 1 Push
Jerk.  All of that was completed @125lbs.

Remaining time

You know you are in for it when the WOD is named AWFUL. Yes,
it lived up to the billing, this collection of movements was a hot pile of
smoking garbage. I knew I was not going to be in tip top shape going in, but I had
no idea I was that shredded. I managed to get 6 Clean & Jerks (@115lbs). It
was hard, but once I got moving I started to feel a bit better overall. The
hamstrings were still chirping, but I wasn’t listening (I had too much to do).
Cash-out
Tabata Calorie Row (8x 20s on and 10s off)
Interesting little finisher today. It was fun, but I’m not
sure I was at my best when I was pulling. Truth is I may have had some green
beer today and it may have affected today’s overall performance. For those
keeping track, I hit 8, 8, 8, 8, 7, 8, 8 and 10 calories.
BWOD
Glute Stretch
Hip Stretch
Hamstring Stretch
Recovery, that’s the focus now. I’m set to try and run
tomorrow, but it will be tight (dentist appointment).  If I can’t squeeze the run in, I will make it
up on Wednesday. Have a good night.
