Difficult Decisions Made Easier

So before we get into the decisions, lets talk about
CrossFit. I know, you are rolling your eyes, but there is proof in the pudding
(as they say). Take a gander at this photo taken during my second class
@CrossFitCanuck. Quite the change isn’t it? I look at this picture and I don’t
even recognize myself.  If you are
willing to do the work, the results can be spectacular and life altering.
Now decisions. After I complete 14.1 and managed to peel
myself off the floor, I had a long slow think. 100 reps completed. 2 rounds
plus 10 DUs. Could I do better? Maybe? Yes. Definitely yes. Should I redo it?
In the end there was a combination of reasons why I didn’t. First was strictly
physical. My left calf is a giant knot and nothing I’ve done seems to loosen it
up. Second, was a bit psychological, but didn’t come together until I was
talking to @DefconRX and @matt_5577. Do your best on the WOD, all out and let
the score be the score. We’ll have to see if I can stick to that as we get
deeper into this.
Warm-up
500m Row
15 Squats
15 Push-ups
The legs didn’t like the movements so once we got moving I
decided that heavy Squats were not on the table. Coach Z (@zlreyes) gave me a
Clean Complex to work on and I decided today would be a good time for Squats
(on the plates) with no weight. Just range of motion. Every 2 minutes for 8
minutes I completed 5 Air Squats followed by 1-2 Complexes @135lbs. I was still
having the issue with my wrists curling and I tried to focus on keeping my
fists pointed downward (thanks Z). Next up, 5 more Air Squats every 90 seconds
for 6 minutes with a Complex in between.
WOD (15 minute CAP)
2 Rounds of
3 Power Cleans (@205lbs)
10 HSPU (Box)
Then…
2 Rounds of
6 Power Cleans (@185lbs)
20 Ring Dips (Purple)
Then…
2 Rounds of
12 Power Cleans (@135lbs)
30 Push-ups
14m32s to complete this and let me tell you, it was a long, long
WOD. Push and Pull forever is how this one felt. Even though it was really
heavy, it was really fun when we got to the end. Big Congrats to Laurice and
@jeffortiz who finished the WOD, even after the CAP. Well done boys. 1 heavy
day a week during Open season and then a little easier leading up to Saturday.
BWOD
Glute Stretch
Hip Stretches
My body was protesting just about everything by this time so
no Cash-out for me (I know, GASP). It doesn’t happen often, but tonight it had
to. The goal is an easy run tomorrow and back to work on Wednesday.
