A Heartfelt Thank You

Monday (Jan 5) – Thank You. Thank You.
Thank You. I cannot even put into words my thanks for all the well wishes and
notes that have been posted since Saturday’s engagement announcement. @SavannahJessie
and I are absolutely floored by the outpouring of love. The whole engagement so
far has been a blur.  From the moment of
the ‘Yes’ to notifying our family and friends to the various postings it has
been flying. We are slowly figuring out our plan for the next, oh, say, 22
months of our lives and the future beyond that. As 2015 starts, I am happy to
say we are getting focused and getting down to business.

A nooner? To start the New Year? Well I
might as well get the year started on the right foot. It was a small class,
cold as hell outside and already a long day (we made the trek from Blue
Mountain through snow squalls this morning), but I made it. We started our new
cycle to prepare for the Open and the weights have come down, but the reps are
going through the roof.  We started with
Front Squats every 2 minutes for 3 rounds of 10 reps @145lbs. I was worried
about participating, but I just went light and focused on form. We followed
that up with 5 reps every 90 seconds of Split Jerk @135lbs. These felt
outstanding today and Coach Z (@zlreyes) commented that they looked strong and
were landing in the same spot on each lift. We closed out our skill session
today with 5 OHS @75lbs every 90 seconds for 3 minutes.

10 Pull-ups
had me modify from Chest to Bar Pull-ups to un-banded Pull-ups to get the work
done. The first 5 C&J’s were nice and quick and the Pull-ups were knocked
off in pairs, but extension was the issue. There is still a lot of work to do
to engage the lats and not rely on the biceps and the kip to hit the second and
third. I managed to get finished in 11m33s, but it was tough and I was shredded
when we got finished.
The only issue with Nooners is that I don’t
have enough time to hit a big BWOD when we get finished the programming. It is
usually a quick turnaround to get back to the Big K, shovel something into my
face and get my brain back into the day-to-day. I’m also going to make a big
push to absorb everything I can to become a coach @CrossFitCanuck as quickly as
possible.  With the Rowing Championships
coming up on February 2nd, the next 2 months are going to be
Until Wednesday,
