When Your Training Week Turns Into…

Into a GIANT raging dumpster fire…

Well you know how I always seem to take on too much, well it seems I really enjoy a challenge (not the Kettlebell kind). After what seems like a lull, life has picked up to near breakneck speed. I’ve added two more classes t my coaching schedule (Canuck Lite on Monday and Wednesday evenings) and while it’s incredibly rewarding, I forgot how much it adds to the load. Work at the Big K also seems to have approached simply ludacris speed and while I wish I could say I was fighting the good fight, a lot of it seems to be doing rework. I hate doing things over and over again… Still there are folks in worse positions and sometimes you just have to put your head down and try not to go insane.

Even with all the things going on (and there’s lots, check out SavannahJessie.com) I still managed to get in Week 3 of my programming from @Eastbound_Power. This is the calm before the Week 4 (the HEAVY week) storm and it’s really cool to see the progress I’ve made. As I was telling D-Hump if you want to build a specific Power Lifting movement, talk to Rob. I’ve added 40lbs to my Bench Press PR since starting with him and now 230lbs (pictured) seems relatively easy. Still there is that threshold that you cross (about 225lbs) when you just feel more comfortable having a spotter (thanks to Jason and @eriqueleung for the help this week).

On the run side, there hasn’t been any pounding of the pavement since Saturday’s record breaking run. It’s been extremely rough. Normally I head out first thing in the morning but this week it has been a struggle when the alarm has gone off (at 430am). I have had ZERO energy. My body as been aching. I just haven’t been able to get moving. Now this falls into a period where I have run out of my Progenix Recovery. I just haven’t been able to remember to grab it and I can feel the difference (check out my post on What I Take to see the supplements that I use). Now my protein intake is probably a little low too right now, but overall my numbers have been close to what @CanuckCoach has prescribed for ETP. Still I have lots of work to do.

Speaking of work, how’s your Challenge coming? 1500 Kettlebell Movements in the month f July (with a limit of 300 reps of any single movement). So far it’s been a little slow for me, but I’m happy to see a bunch of people working with the Kettlebells to get through this one. After Lite on Wednesday I joined @wperena for some work and added another 100 to my total. 50 KB High Pulls and 50 Heavy Russians…

Feeling those today…
