Yes I know this post is late, but by the time I got home
last night, the only thing I was doing was going straight to bed. I hate the heat. Not the 40 degree dry Vegas heat, but this
brutal 40 degree with the humidex crap that we are getting right now. Ugh. This
weather just seems to sap all the energy out of you and it feels like you have
an elephant sitting on your chest. Throw in a Smolov and you have a recipe for
some tired chocolate (or in this heat a puddle of chocolate pudding). The other
reason I was up past my bedtime was a visit to Mike and Marnie (Thanks for
hosting). We got a chance for a midweek BBQ (nice job Sous Cheffing and BBQ’in
@Nipshank_FF) and with their crazy schedule you get together whenever you can. Finally, big thanks to @hoodieruns for the
recipe for Guacamole Stuffed Southwest Burgers, they were delicious.
400m Run
3 Rounds of
10 Beat Swings
10 Push-ups
10 Sit-ups
See Previous Postings
that we were only doing a Smolov Jr cycle and not the full deal. Why so happy?
3 weeks instead of 13. Yeah, kinda a big deal. We still have some heavy squats
coming, but not as many as originally thought. The other good news is that the
shoulder is steadily feeling better.
There is still weakness and a bit of pain, but it doesn’t hurt to put on
a t-shirt anymore. The downside is that the last week of sleep has sucked. It’s
tough to go from a steady side-sleeper to someone trying to learn to sleep on
their back. Double Ugh.
Snatch and 3 Snatch Grip Push Press. Problemo. While the shoulder is better, I’m
still having trouble controlling the bar in the back rack position and since
Tavia said I couldn’t do the wide grip from front rack, I would reset and do
regular Push Presses. Working @95lbs (still the most I’m comfortable pushing
with the clipped wing), I started off and shockingly it wasn’t bad. I will say I
did have the most fun Power Cleaning the weight up to get ready for the Push
Press, but everybody has to like something. Enter Smolov (dun, dun dun…).
@keilshammer and I were partnered up and we warmed up to 235lb for me and 225lb for
him (on his first 2 rounds). Funny
story, we were filming the reps and I forgot to strip the extra 10lbs,
@keilshammer did it (successfully) and Jillian said there was no going back. 6
reps every 2 minutes for 12 minutes. I
really felt I was getting decent depth, but still more to go.
5 minute AMRAP
5 Snatch (@95lbs)
30 DUs
1 minute Rest
5 minute AMRAP
5 Squat Clean (@95lbs)
10 Knees to Elbows
I strung some groups together and I was pretty happy about it. I finished 2
full rounds plus 2 Snatch in the first AMRAP and 2 full rounds plus 5 Knees to
Elbows in the second (YAY!). I was also a hot sweaty mess. Did you notice the
new headband I was wearing in the video (and the new socks)? Well I squeezed
about half a cups worth of sweat out of it… Good thing it was extra absorbent.
5 minute Ladder
Ring Rows (modified from Wall Walks)
Push-ups
grip for the rows. More things to work
on (cripes that list is getting big). No B-WOD again (damn, this is starting to
get serious) because I had to run to get to Mike and Marnie’s before it got too
late. Tuesday is supposed to be an off day, but I will have to find time to
ride tonight.
