So to sum up my time since the diving tackle… Awful. I swear to all things holy that I have been just useless for the last two days. The pain moved from my knee to my hips and finally today into my back. I have been absolutely useless.
So let’s fast-forward to this evening. I came home from a rather rough day at work and made a healthy (ish) dinner. I Sat around watching a couple of movies and tried to find a position that didn’t make me feel terrible. I sat looking at my bike (Spritz) for a long time. Just sat staring at it and trying to find a way to get motivated. Well, guess what, I found some.
I got dressed, slapped in an episode of Fringe and started pedaling. I did not feel good about it. I thought I was going to die after the first 10 minutes, but I just kept going. I managed a 41 minute session keeping an RPM of 91 and an average BPM of 153 (I got over 160, but not sure how far). When it was all said and done 22Kms were in the book (or on the odometer, however you want to look at it). It was one of the toughest sessions I’ve gone through, but the fact that I survived and didn’t have any pain made me feel pretty good.
Once finished, quad and hamstring stretches to loosen up and then filling in all of my followers. Less than a month until the Ride for Heart and ball season starts tomorrow…
