No Resolutions Here, 2020 Edition!

As we close the year and the decade, there has been a LOT of reflection from just about everyone and more than a handful of resolutions. Well, if that is what you were looking for, I’m sorry to disappoint. Reflection is one thing, but I’m a firm believer in the theory that you shouldn’t wait for January 1stto change something. If something needs to change, change it. Set goals and go get them. I’m not above a little reflection though as the decade comes to an end.

2010-2019

This was probably the biggest decade of my life, by a long shot. Here’s a snapshot of the decade:

  • Started this Blog
  • Bought a Condo
  • Discovered CrossFit (and @CrossFitCanuck)
  • Started Coaching
  • Met a Girl (@SavannahJessie)
  • Got Married
  • Sold the Condo
  • Bought a House
  • Ran a Marathon

Those are the highlights (not in order of importance). I also met a treasure trove of incredible people who have left their mark on me in one way or another. It was a banner decade all around.

What were your top moments of the decade? Feel like sharing? Leave a comment below.

Goals for 2020

Remember how I said I would NEVER run a long distance EVER again? Well, along with wanting to bend that rule I have the need to combat this feeling of stagnation. My weight has been fluctuating, my motivation was on again – off again during the end of 2019 and I’ve been in a general funk. My plan to solve it is to set aggressive goals of 311 miles running and 311 cycling (311mi works out to 500KMs).  I’m also thinking of registering for an organized 10KM race during the summer. Something I can accomplish with the training path I’m on without the overhead (physical and mental stresses) of preparing for a half marathon. I also want to complete 200+ workouts during 2020, whether they are running, gym, hikes or whatever.

Maybe the biggest goal of 2020 isn’t physical (but will have a physical effect), but a determined effort to have a better relationship with food. That includes the mindset that doing all the work (above) isn’t a green light to forget to be vigilint about what I’m eating. This one will be big.

Lots of bold goals to kick off the year.  I feel like 2020 is going to be a really big year.  Just a feeling. What goals do you have? Every goal is important, but do you have any REALLY BIG ONES? Drop a comment and share. Remember if you make it public, then we can help you stay accountable.

Happy 2020!

Beez
