V… I… wait for it… P…

That’s right blog followers (and visitors), yours truly is
VIP #1 for the Ride for Heart Corporate Challenge 2012 (not that I’m bragging
or blowing my own horn or anything).  I
sit $3 short of $1,100 in a little over three weeks and there is NO way I could
have done it without the help of everyone that has donated to the cause so far.
Not a bad start, but lots of work still to do to get to my goal of $2,500.

I don’t know if you can tell or not, but I’m pretty stoked
about the ride (even though it’s five months away) and the Keilhauer Team (we
have a lot of super cool peeps, some who have no idea how wicked an experience
they are in for). There is still a whole lot of work ahead for me,
training-wise (I need to be ready to do 75KM in sub three hours),
fundraising-wise ($1,400+ dollars still to go) and Captain-wise (I want to make
sure my whole team has a great time).

So onto todays’ silliness. Surprisingly this mornings’ wakeup
call was not as painful as usual.  I was
up and out of bed relatively quickly (part of the incentive being some early
morning weather headed to Toronto.  If I go
to the gym, I miss most of the brutal drivers).
Now that’s not to say that I was exactly on schedule, but I was warming
up on the treadmill ten minutes earlier than normal (although still ten minutes
later than I want to start).  Today was
also a monumental day, it is weigh in day numero uno (last Tanita-410 weigh in
was March 2010).

Now I’ve been focusing (as if you can’t tell) on my upper
body.  This is where I feel most unhappy
and considering that my legs are getting a workout just carrying me around (and
during cardio, spinning, etc…) up top is where I’m focused. As a side note, you
will also see lots of shoulder workouts too. This is to build strength because
of issues I’ve had over the years.

Treadmill – 18 minutes, 230 calories, 1.0 miles

Rear Delt – 3×20 @100lbs
Close Grip Pulldowns – 3×15 @100lbs
Shoulder Press – 3×20 @35lbs
MTS Row – 3×12 @45lbs
MTS High Row – 1×15 @35lbs and 2×15 @45lbs
Wide Pulldowns – 3×15 @90lbs
Elliptical – 35 minutes, 559.6 calories, 5395 strides, 140+
Avg. BPM, 152 Max BPM

It was a pretty good morning and I felt really good all the
way through the routine.  When I was
finished on the elliptical, it was time to see how bad my weight was going to
be and how much work was left to do.
Goodlife has a Tanita-410 Body Composition Analyzer and even though I realize
there is some margin for error, this is the baseline for my weigh-ins.  It measures how much water, lean muscle and
fat you are carrying and roughly how much body fat.  The last time I weighed in, was March 2010.

Not as bad as it might have been.  I have lots of work to do, but now there is a
baseline and hopefully I will be able to give you aweigh in every few
weeks.  Tomorrow is a breakfast meeting
with the HSF folks, but I hope to squeeze in a spin in the morning (but we will
see).
