P90X Day 4

Toga, Toga, Toga…
Uh, I mean Yoga, Yoga, Yoga…

So day 4 of P90X = Yoga (I think you may have figured that out already). I do not enjoy yoga, at all. I am by no means a small man and as a result flexibility is not one of my strengths. I’m not even sure I know what the definition of the word is. To give you an idea of how much I can bend, let me put this in perspective with one simple statement.

“Bernie is as flexible as the CN Tower”

Watching the hour-and-a-half yoga video is enough to make anyone feel sore. “You want me to put my leg where?” Honestly though I did my best, but there were some poses that were not only physically impossible, but also hurt. My ankles had a lot of trouble with the one legged poses, it was brutal. The other issue I have with yoga is that you are supposed to be calm and centered, always remembering to breathe. When I’m doing yoga I spend my time trying to make my body contort into these positions and worry about not damaging property if/when I come crashing to the mat.

Long term however I can see the benefit of stretching the body and in the end this is all for “the greater good”. I’ll keep plugging away this weekend and we’ll see how it goes. Cottage bound and plan on some biking while I’m gone. P90 must go on…
