Impressive. Superhero-like Even…

Recognize the movie quote? Hackers, circa 1995. Ok, so making it to the gym/spinning five days out of the week isn’t on par with being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but hey, it’s a good start. The hard part as is managing to drag myself out of bed, especially when there is nothing I would rather be doing besides sleeping. The drive to get ‘skinny’ is going to be a big part of the first half of 2012 (now, let’s be clear, I will never be skinny. I will always be solid and I am ok with that).

This morning wasn’t as painful getting up as yesterday (figuratively, my calf was still complaining very loudly) and I had the incentive of beating the weather. I packed up and headed out, rolling into the gym just as it started snowing and traffic chaos started in Toronto.

By this point in the week though I didn’t have a whole lot left in the tank and my legs were definitely a little worse for wear.  The problem with the heavy gym and spinning is that the legs are working out every day.  On the plus side, working and building the big muscle groups (legs, chest, back…) helps in the long term to burn calories (according to trainer Kim). I will continue to stick to the schedule (three gyms and two spins a week), but I will be going lighter on the weights than if I was on a straight cycle.

This morning’s session only featured a few weight activities and lots of cardio.  I forgot the heart monitor, so there were no stats, but it was a good sweat.

Treadmill – 13 minutes, 157 calories, 0.70 miles
Leg Extensions – 2×15 @55lbs and 2×20 @45lbs
Leg Abduction – 3×30 @235lbs
Leg Adduction – 3×30 @235lbs
Seated Chest Press – 2×15 @30lbs (ISO MTS) and 1×15 @35lbs (ISO MTS)
Elliptical – 30 minutes, 4199 strides, 445.8 calories

So this weekend will be all about recovery (and cheering for the San Francisco 49ers as they play New Orleans) and getting the body ready to go for Monday.  Unfortunately there will also be a big dose of studying for my CCNA and the new hardware we just got at work (jumping for joy!).

Ride for Heart wise the donations have started to roll in (yes, I know the ride isn’t until June, but it never hurts to get a head start on things) so I feel pretty pumped about that.  If you want to donate, click the badge on the top right of the blog.

Have a great weekend,

Beez
