Ok so it has been a busy few days getting ready for what is looking more and more like a 10 round boxing match with Mike Tyson. In order to not fail utterly, I have been getting my body ready for something I am 100% convinced that it won’t like doing, but will appreciate in the end. Saturday started the lead up to the week prior to starting (it does sound like I’m avoiding doesn’t it). Just so we’re clear, SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 is the start date for the P90X program…
So, getting back to the lead up. Saturday Steve, Kris and I made a little bike ride, from Steve’s cottage in Torrence (on lake Muskoka) to the lovely little berg known as Bala. Well, let me tell you those stories you hear from your Parents and Grandparents about walking to school both ways uphill in the winter obiously took place along highway 169! Those hills don’t look like much, but as you’re pounding away through the gears on a bike, let me tell you they resemble the Alps.
Monday was softball with the Honeywell Diamond Dawgs who had a 1-0 lead in a best of three playoff series. That’s about where the positives stop, as we got hammered 23-4… Not pretty. We did have some entertainment on the field as Big Pappi (Me) wearing his baseball pants (Thank Goodness) was a sliding and diving machine. Now if only I could have stopped myself throwing that ball to first after the diving stab, everything would have been ok. The next morning I found a note taped to the mirror:
Bernie,
While we enjoy the enthusiasm you displayed in the playoff game, I have to protest at the awful treatment that you have willfully inflicted upon me. After a promising beginning to the day and a slight adjustment by Dr Chris you acted in a very callous manor. I would like to state it now that if you ever attempt to put me through that again I will not only file legal action against you but ensure you are in excruciating pain for at least a month.
Yours sincerely,
Your Body
OK, so I may have been a little over zealous. Tuesday was the Official Weigh-in day for the program (following a small cardio workout). Let me just say I almost died on the Elliptical… Here are the stats:
Weight – 317 lbs.
BMI – 40.7 (I believe BMI is a useless stat but include here anyway)
Fat % – 31.7%
Fat Mass – 100.4 lbs.
Fat Free Mass – 216.6 lbs. (This includes bone, muscle etc)
Total Body Water – 158.6 lbs.
The plan from here on is as follows, Wednesday, softball with the Blue Rams (who are up 2-0 in a best of 5). Thursday, the P90X initial testing program (which gives you your baseline to measure against) and then program start September 1, 2009.
You are THE MAN Bernie!! I love your plan and your dedication! The letter from your body almost made me pee my pants. Good for you B! You are an inspiration!! 🙂 xoxoxo
Lets remember next time to leave the embarrassing performance of the Honeywell Diamond Dogs OUT of your blogging! 😉
Sounds like a good start!
