Wednesday (Oct 29) – I’m getting a bit
behind in posts because of how crazy life has become (somehow in the last 3
days) and @SavannahJessie suggested putting the day at the beginning of the
post to make it easier to follow along. Between getting my apprentice hours in,
building a new Firewall at work, Row training, studying for Microsoft
certification exams and oh yeah, life, I have been coming a bit unglued. That
doesn’t even begin to touch on the subject of my new neighbors who feel that
operating a dance club in their condo at 345am is a perfectly acceptable thing
to do on a WEDNESDAY. In my younger and much angrier days, such stupidity might
have met with a stern talking to (or a punch to the throat… just kidding), but
nowadays its just a call to security and a sleepless night.

The fact that Wednesday was the first of
the marathon days I had, didn’t really add any useful flavor to the whole
thing. Alarm at 545a, fight and fail to get up to run, but make breakfast,
actually find pants and get the day started. Have some small victories on the
Firewall front, but fail utterly Microsoft wise and then hit @CrossFit Canuck
for a couple of hours of being a giant shadow. It is really something to see
Tav teach and to be able to see if I am seeing what she does, while paying
close attention to how she corrects and instructs. I didn’t get a chance to
debrief, but I got to do something I have never done before…

  WOD with the #730Class

There was no time for a super in depth
warm-up because I was a bit behind from the earlier class, but it looked like a
fun session with folks I rarely get to WOD with and @SarahBassels at the helm.
First off we were working the Deadlift (small cartwheel of joy!), lifting every
2 minutes for 3×70%TM, 3×80%TM and 3+x90%TM. TM stands for training max which
is 90% of your 1 Rep Max. I managed 4 @345lbs, but the big lift came @315lbs
when the bar just seemed to fly. It was awesome! Off to the Shoulder Press
where I got to work with Ed for the first time and it was 5 rounds of 5 reps
@95lbs every 90 seconds. They felt good too and my butt was tight for all the
lifts (someone verified it with a smack). I did pass on the Back Squats and
 setup for the WOD.

  WOD (14 minute CAP)
  5 Inch Worms
  10 Power Cleans (@135lbs)
  15 Kettlebell Swings (@50lbs)
  4 Inch Worms
  8 Power Cleans (@135lbs)
  12 Kettlebell Swings
  3 Inch Worms
  6 Power Cleans (@135lbs)
  9 Kettlebell Swings
  25 Inch Worms
  4 Power Cleans (@135lbs)
  6 Kettlebell Swings
  1 Inch Worms
  2 Power Cleans (@135lbs)
  3 Kettlebell Swings

   DANCE PARTY!!!!

Now the Inch Worms started off as Wall
Walks, but on number 2, my arm didn’t feel good so I modified. This one was
SPICY! I managed to get the work done in 9m01s and I was absolutely shredded.
The whole #730Class was bringing it though and everyone was pounding away at
the reps. There were some odd things going with this bunch though as a
spontaneous dance party seemed to erupt just before the WOD itself.
Interesting. By now though, I was seriously tired and hungry. It was getting
near my bedtime and I still had more to do.

  BROW
  500m Row
  10/10/10/10/10
  5x100m Row
  2000m Row

Tonight, the last thing I wanted to do was
Row, but I was already behind the curve. My 5x100m were all slow and felt
terrible and it was only because of the encouragement I was getting from
@SarahBassels that I kept going (and knowing what Jillian would say if I just
bailed). My 2000m time was not my fastest, but it felt like the best one I’ve
ever had (only 4 seconds slower then my PR). I didn’t break the bank out of the
gate and was able to better sustain a fast pace. When I was done though, I was
 done and STARVING.

Got back to the Casa and whipped up the
goodness you see above. Roast Beef, onions cheese, spice, wasabi aioli and
mustard on flat bread. So GOOD! OK, I’m finally feeling like my body will let
me sleep, the rest of the posts are coming.
