Well That Sucked

I bet you thought this was going to be another post
lamenting the loss of the Toronto Maple Leafs last night in game 7. As gut
wrenching it is to live in a city that hasn’t won a Major sports title since
1993, it was tough to watch, but full marks to the Bruins.  Good teams find a way to win and young/bad
ones don’t. Considering the Leafs had no business pushing to game 7, Toronto
fans should be happy and look at the bright future the team has.

Tonight’s title for the post comes from @girmantitov who was
working across from @jonokim11 and I during Back Squats. I may have been a bit
quick with my counting at the bottom of the Squat and hold and instead of a 3
count, Jillian assigned me a 5 count.
@girmantitov looked across and uttered that famous line. An extra little
bit of time, what’s the big deal? Well with 260lbs on your back, it becomes a
larger issue.

I didn’t feel the mojo today and looking at the #430Class
suffering through the WOD, I got a bit worried.
I was short on sleep and it hadn’t been a good day food wise. First up
was the High Hang Snatch for 1 round of 7 reps. Tavia was working with me on
footing today, I’m trying to compensate for a lack of hip flexibility by
throwing my feet wider. Trouble with that is it’s not the proper way to do
it.  I have a ton more work to do with my
hips and working with weight overhead. After the Snatch we moved onto the
aforementioned (always wanted to use that in a sentence) Back Squats for 5×3
Back Squats with a 3 5 count hold at the bottom (working @260lbs).

When I read this WOD in the morning it didn’t seem that bad
and the descriptor of ‘FUN’ was nowhere to be seen. I have come to the
conclusion that Tavia is not describing WODs has fun anymore to keep from
scaring us off. Holy Crap, I was 9.4 on the crispy scale after that one.
Finishing time of 14m50s was decent, but I think I could have maybe knocked 15
or 20 seconds off that (too much time trying to recover in the Push-ups).

I got through the Pull-ups pretty well (it might be time to
go to the Purple Band soon) and the Ring Dips were ‘interesting’.  Eureka moment of the day came courtesy of
@jonokim11 (pictured below taking the Ring Dips to the next level) who helped
me figure out that my rope is too long and it’s making my attempt to get Double
Unders more difficult. If I can keep making progress like tonight (and the end
of last week), I might be able to string them by the end of next week.
