Unexpected Win!

Find the drive!!!
Thursday (October 1) – Am I in the midst of
the Winter Blahs before winter even shows its snowy face? I’m not sure what the
issue is, but it has been next to impossible to get out of bed in the morning
and as a result I haven’t had a regular WOD schedule in a little over 3 weeks. I
don’t even know how to fix this yet (pipe down, I hear you shouting just get
out of bed). With a full load of studying, work and the goal of having some
type of home life, there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. Was
there a referendum passed while I wasn’t paying attention to remove time from
the normal day and to shorten weekends? In any event, I’m sure everyone
struggles with this at one time or another. There’s no other choice but to pull
up my already high socks and carry on…
Warm-up
30 – 20 – 10
Jumping Jacks
Butt Kicks
High Knees
Then…
2×10 Dumbell Deadlift (Grip, 2@15lbs)
2×7 Push Press (2@15lbs)
2×1 minute Ankle Stretch (Dumbbell)
So @SavannahJessie really got me moving to
make it to my second ever Canuck Weightlifting class. Today it was Coach Z
(z@zlreyes) who was directing this show and again, I got some really good
instructions to improve my Split Jerk and my Clean.
3×3 On The Toe Jerks (@95lbs)
Then…
BN Split Jerk
2@60%, 2@70%, 2@75%, 2@80%, 2@85% and
2@160lbs
Then…
Find a Heavy Squat Clean (220lb PR!)
The on the toe work was a little
uncomfortable, but it with @CADPro00 pushing me along, I managed to move some
pretty decent weight around. When we final moved to the platform for the Heavy
Clean, shockingly, it felt really good. Those are words you don’t often here
from me, especially lately, when life has to happen below 90 degrees. I’ve been
pretty regular getting the Vitamin C and Joint Pro NEM into my system so my
knees have been feeling better. We started moving quickly through the rainbow
plates and they felt really light. When time ran out, Coach Z let us continue
to try and find a 1RM.  With 100KG (220lbs)
on the bar I stepped in made a good pull, caught it and stood it up. WOOHOO!!!!
I maybe had one or two more lifts in me, but I didn’t want to get greedy.
Not bad for a day where I was 50/50 about
doing anything when I woke up. A 13lb PR in the Squat Clean and general feeling
of awesome when I was done! I’m shooting to try a couple more Bikram classes and
a Saturday WOD before we get reset for another busy week. The goal will be to
hit regular classes and get into routine.
