Top of the Heap

Living Dangerously, But Can’t Breathe Face Down
Monday (July 6) – Well I am certainly
feeling Saturday’s 40K when the alarm went off at 430am. Yeah, you read that
right. Today was my first class teaching the 6am and 7am classes and as a
result the super early wake up. My quads and hips were very tight and my eyes
were screwed shut until I could reach my phone and check the WOD. HOLY
WHAT??!?! Birthday and Anniversary all rolled into one with a boatload of
Wallballs… Did I mention that today would be a long one, mostly because it is
my return to evening WODs (#530Crew) and I will be joining at @savannahjessie
as she tries out CrossFit Lite. Let’s get to it!

Warm-up
400m Run

There was some serious cherry picking going
on today once the WOD was announced, but those that did make it in got to have
a blast celebrating Eric and Karen’s Anniversary and Karen’s Birthday. So they
decided we needed a partner Karen (CrossFit Version). Oi!

Les Barf! Team B & Stranger Danger (Mr.
Adam) was on fire from the get go with Adam pushing the pace. We completed
section 1 at 9m33s, section 2 at 25m18s and finished up at 33m46s. It was
disgusting, but we managed to finish #1 on the day. I would have been more than
happy to stop after the first section which was fun and by the time we moved
on, breathing was tough (hence being face up on the Burpees). At one point
there were 3 Adam’s and I was trying not to puke on his shorts.
Cash-out
400m Run
It was supposed to be 4x400m, but I started
cramping up (left leg) and I broke it off to get more fluids and some food before
CrossFit Lite started. What is CrossFit Lite? It’s being offered by
@CrossFitCanuck and encompasses the same bodyweight movements and gymnastics as
a regular class, but omits the barbell.
Baseline
400m Run
30 Air Squats
20 Push-ups
10 Ring Rows
This was just to get a time that we can try
and improve on over the course of the 6 weeks. I finished in 3m51s and I’m
interested to see if that number creeps down at the end of the program. Early
prediction? I say I can take 7 seconds off of it (maybe 10).
3×4
AMRAP 4
50m Bear Crawl
50m Jump Lunges
Rest 1 minute
6 Burpee Box Jumps
6 Box Dips
Rest 1 minute
30 Mountain Climbers
20 Ab Mat Sit-ups
Shredded. I went as hard as I could and was
a hot schweaty mess by the time. REST DAY TOMORROW is what my body was
screaming at me by the time ticked down. I got very close to the redline (and
maybe a bit over it) during this little party and I’m worried if I can keep up
with the class. Time will tell. The schedule says it will be doubles Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays (except this Friday, which is MINIONS DAY).
Catch you Hump Day,

Beez
