What a Buzzkill

@DefconRX said Muscle-ups were a ‘Buzzkill’ and Baz was like, “whaaaa”?
Tuesday (Jan 13) – Early wake up call!
@SavannahJessie and I made it in for @SarahBassels 6am class and the mountain
of Deadlifts that were planned for the day. Now I was still feeling ‘off’ from
yesterday’s crazy intense one and I have even been having trouble marshaling my
thoughts. My brain has been fuzzy for the last couple of weeks and I’ve been
having trouble just getting trough day-to-day. Nothing crazy but it has been
tough to concentrate and impossible to get any studying done. Hopefully this is
just a bump in the road…
Warm-up
5 minutes
200m Row
5 Beat Swings
5 Ring Rows
5 Push-ups
5 Squats
Deadlifts. C’mon oh wonderful Deadlifts,
make everything ok. 8 minutes, lifting every 2 minutes 10@205lbs, 10@245lbs,
10@265lbs, 8@280lbs and 6@315lbs. These got really heavy, really quickly, but
OMG the Deadlifts make everything ok. There was a bit of trouble @315lbs, but
even when they were broken down to singles, the form was still pretty good.  Continuing on @zlreyes modification work to
get me stronger, Coach Baz (@SarahBassels) wouldn’t give me the option of
taking the easy way, but had me work on banded Muscle-up Progressions. Sure I
ended up using a Blue Band, but I did them for the first time AND I managed to
hit a bunch of strict Ring Dips.
WOD (15 minute CAP)
9 OHS (@75lbs)
9 Pull-ups
9 Kettlebell Swings (@50lbs)
15 OHS
15 Pull-ups
15 Kettlebell Swings
21 OHS
21 Pull-ups
21 Kettlebell Swings
Baz had us all working hard and by the time
I dropped the Kettlebell I was cooked. Again, there just didn’t seem to be a
whole lot in the tank, but I worked as hard as I could. When the CAP came and
went, I wasn’t done, but I didn’t stop and managed to complete the movements in
15m35s.  With the Open less then 50 days
away, there is no choice but to keep moving and keep trying to be better. The
Pull-ups continually got worse as the reps increased and Baz called me out for
not getting to the bottom of the Pull-up. More work to do.
Cash-out
50 GHD Sit-ups
50 GHD Back Extensions
What? A Cash-out? There was time and there
was work to do so let’s get to stepping.
It has been a while since I was on the GHD and the truth is, I missed
it. When you boil it all down, that’s what the road to health is all about, the
willingness to do work.
BWOD
Shoulder Mobility (Band)
Knee to Wall
Ankle Mobility (Plate)
Glute Stretch
Hip Stretches
It is time to get serious. While the Half may
or may not be on the list, the body better get used to working. As soon as it
gets a bit warmer, it will be time to reintroduce the post WOD Runs back into
the schedule.  Until then, it will be all
about getting on track.
