Isn’t The Buzzer Optional??

No @SarahBassels, the buzzer is not optional.
Today marks the start of week 3 of the Texas method. So far,
it has been heavy. Apologies to those looking to see a running post this
weekend, @zlreyes birthday WOD had my hamstrings screaming for most of Sunday. Don’t
think I haven’t forgot about the training that still needs to be done, because
I’m starting to panic (just a little bit). I’m not too worried about the
distance, @CrossFitCanuck has me in good condition, its the goal time. Quick
like the Easter Bunny is what I need to be and I’m not 100% sure if I will be
able to do it.
Warm-up
20 DUs
2 Rounds of
5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats
I don’t know where I am in the world of Back Squats anymore,
because I have erased my 1RM (it was in the neighborhood of 350lbs, but below
parallel was a question). With the focus being on form and driving from my
heels without tipping forward it has been an exercise in experimentation. Today
I got to work with @SarahBassels as we tackled an 18 minute session lifting
every 2 minutes @170lbs. It was tough (not sure it was my 75%), but I ‘might’
have been able to go heavier. To tell the truth, I was just excited that my
hips cooperated for the entire thing.
WOD (3 Rounds, 20 minute CAP)
50 Calorie Row/800m Run
15 HSPU (Box)
50 DUs
How do you know if your Rope is trying to kill you?
I started tonight on the Row and due to congestion,
completed the last 2 rounds running (actually, I think deep down I wanted to
Run tonight. GASP. I know right, I wanted to Run). As always, I had a great
time on the Row (as in fun), but also got a decent clocking. 1m36s for 50
calories. My problems tonight were (as always) with the f$#king DUs. I got
shredded, no blood this time, but I hurt. I finished 2 full rounds plus the run
(got back at 19m57s). I felt good out there and finally in my last 400m it felt
like my stride was opening up and my breathing settling down.
Cash-out
3x50m Farmer Carry (2x70lb Kettlebells)
It was a bit disappointing tonight because a stupid rusted
lock kept us from playing with the sledgehammers. Stupid lock. The #530Crew
came out and carried the Bells like crazy. I was even feeling pretty good,
bodywise.
BWOD
Glute Stretch
Hip Stretch
Quad Stretch
5 Pull-ups
2 Attempts (from the Dead Hang)
5 Chest to Bar
Shoulder Mobility (Band)
Ankle Mobility (Plate)
You can’t have a Monday much better than this at the box.
Well you can, but we already had Deadlifts. Well Deadlifts and for the Canucks
who are banged up to get healthy. Speedy recovery to you guys. I’m not sure how
the rest of this training week is going to go, but right now it looks like
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday (followed by some awesome people getting
hitched (L&P).
