No Peeking

In the last 24hrs (give or take a few) I have quite
literally run the entire gamut of emotions. I’ve gone from extreme joy and
excitement yesterday to a pretty bleak feeling following a WOD where I almost couldn’t
finish 1 round. Now the blog has shifted formats over the years, but it tries
to give a fair representation of what I’m dealing with as I work to bring my
weight down safely and have a ton of fun doing it.  Injury, pain and mental state are all going to
be part of this trip, there are great days and then there is today. Tonight the
trip took a bit of a detour.

Everything started off all right tonight, but my hips were a
bit crispy from all the attention they’ve been getting lately and my shoulder
is still aching.  I haven’t been able to
figure out what the deal is as I’ve gotten multiple opinions, but I have a
chiro and a regular doctor appointment next week to find out. First up was a 5
minute EMOM of Snatches @95lbs followed be a 2 minute AMRAP. We kept track of
our reps and attempts and I finished up 19 of 19. Akari and I then teamed up
for the Push Press. 10 minutes to find a 1 RM and everything started off just
fine.  Successfully completed 165lbs (my
1 RM is 185lbs) but on my first attempt at 185lbs, my left shoulder absolutely
collapsed. It was brutal. I gave it a couple of minutes and tried 1 more lift
(not a great idea) and I had the same thing happen.

So frustrating. I hit 1 Push Press and then Tavia modified
me to Power Cleans. HSPU were a no go as well and I had to modify to Regular
Push-ups. Front Squats took forever because the bar was sitting right across my
shoulder which by now was getting tender and the only reason I did the KB
Swings was because I couldn’t stand the thought of not even finishing 1 round.  I ended up hitting the CAP of 15 minutes 6
Push-ups into the second round, but I struggled to get there.

I skipped the Cash-out which was really shoulder heavy and I
went straight home to ice.  I’m going to
actually follow medical advice and rest, ice and Muscle Care the crap out of
this stupid wing. I really need to be able to WOD tomorrow for @Wardy_
birthday, but right this second… Not looking good…

***No peeking, crap almost forgot to tell you about that. Tavia has put a no weigh-in clause into effect until the end of the month.  The challenge hasn’t started yet, but I’ve been 90% paleo for the last 12 days. It will be interesting to see what the scale says June 30.
