Sweet Merciful Fu… er, I mean Crap…

Sorry kiddies, it’s been a bit since the last post. There has been a serious motivational issue going on in Beez-land. It’s not that I don’t want to work out, wait, it is that I just don’t feel like working out. The body has been tired and when that alarm goes off, there is just no hitch in my giddy up. Coming back from work the body would rather lay down and sleep than get on the bike, go for a run or swim. I just have to find the way…

So here we are, Thursday night and no activities since Tuesday night. Well, last night was boys night and hockey playoffs at Hammer’s with homemade pizzas (yum by the way) and this morning there just was no desire. I got home tonight and was fully prepared to lay on the couch and veg, but feeling guilty (about letting you guys down), I dropped in a load of laundry (not related to the current exercising, but a human interest piece to expand my horizons) and hopped on the bike.

Tonight’s distraction came in the form of National Treasure and Nicholas Cage’s hair. Not a great movie, but enough to keep your mind off maintain RPMs and BPM and focus on not dying on the bike. So the session was going to be a standard 40 minutes, but again, feeling guilty so I decided to stretch it out. The movie finished and I kept at it (struggling a bit) and figured I would try and hit 30KM in under 60 minutes.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

30.12KM in 55 minutes doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but when you are a chunky brother who doesn’t fit the mould of your standard Tour de France cyclist, it’s a pretty big deal. I was hammering a pretty high pace, somewhere around 93 RPM and the BPM fell into the 154 range. When the session was done, did some calf, hammy and quad stretches and some lifts with the kettlebell.

I’m not sure if tomorrow morning is going to happen and I’m tired of promising and not delivering, so I will just say we’ll see. The weekend is supposed to be pretty crappy weather wise, but that doesn’t mean that I will be sitting on my laurels.
