Tonight on 60 Minutes…

Crazy weather in Canada. The growing epidemic of youth obesity and inactivity. Workouts in a condo when you may or may not feel like it. These stories and Andy Rooney…

Well its hump day in all its glory (get your minds out of the gutter people) and where do we find our masked weight loss superhero (yes, just called myself a superhero)? Watching episodes from the second season of Castle and spinning avec Spritz. Before I go into all the gruesome details of what turned into a pretty epic session, just a second to talk about a very underrated program. I know you hear me gush about Fringe and Bluebloods, but Castle stars Nathan Fillion (who was also a star in Joss Whedon’s Firefly and Serenity) as an author using a NYPD Detective (Stana Katic from Hamilton, ON) as his muse. Mulder and Scully like charisma, a week campy case every once and a while, but good entertainment.

Back to the reason you read this blog. Hopped on the ol’ Spritz and started hammering the pedals. I actually felt pretty awful starting out, but it was a good episode and I was through the first 15 minutes pretty quick. Wanted to go a little harder than usual because I had a bad day food wise. I swear chips are my Kryptonite. If they are around, I have to eat them. I can’t help it. I’m not saying that I finished a big bag of Lay’s Sour Cream and Cheese (because I didn’t), but those little merchants of flavour are the Debil…

When it was all said and done, tonight’s penance for my crime was an extra 15 minutes hard labour. The total session time was a round 60 minutes somewhere between 80 and 84 RPM (I will be better equipped for cadence as of tomorrow or Friday… it’s about time Braun’s) and a BPM in the area of 153. The normal 50 situps on the ball rounded out the seated portion of tonight’s workout and after some stretching and 25 upright rows and overhead extensions, I’m feeling pretty good about today.

See you tomorrow I hope.
